Default Backed up air conditioner

The other day the air conditioner started dripping on the floor. The pipe that drains the AC seems to be clogged and the condesation is backing up into the car. How do you fix this problem and where is the drainage hose?

Default RE: Backed up air conditioner

I just fixed this problem on my 1996 Jetta. It's an easy fix, but the hard part is finding the drain since it is not where you might expect to find it. The drain is in the engine compartment on the passenger side of the firewall. It's behind an aluminum foil flap tha acts as a heat shield. Lift the flap and insert your finger. When you do this you will open a flapper valve and dislodge the gunk blocking the exit. The water will run out immediately. Voila! If you can't find the flap, let me know and I'll try to send you a photo of the spot. It's difficult to find even with the photo. Go figure.

P.S. Don't thank me, I got my information from someone else on a forum along with a photo showing the exact location.
