Default aux input

2008 jetta S and my auxiliary input is in the glovebox. this means since it's auxiliary, i have to control my music through the plugged in device such as ipod in my case. what the HELL is the point of putting it in the glovebox....am i supposed to drive with the glovebox open? that's such a stupid design. smh.

It is very silly but that's why I'm buying a new headunit on mine and putting a totally different sound system (subs/component/coaxial speakers all amped)
but atm what I'm doing is I'm shutting the glovebox and the cable is still in good shape. it's not like when u close the glovebox it cuts your cable in half.
