i just got finished putting a remote starter in my 2001 jetta 2.0 w/o power windows and it is being weird. it will start fine with the key and when i shut it off it will start with the remote starter as long as i don't wait more than like 20 seconds after i turned it off with the key. but if i wait a while and try the remote starter it turns over but it doesn't stay running and there is a light on the dash that is the oudies line of a car with a key in it which i am assuming that it is for the anti theft. i got a dei 556uw for it and i put the valet key in there. is it not sencing the key in the box or is there some kinda wire i need to hok up so that is thinks that there is a key in the ignition or something. any help would be great

 

You probably wired it the wrong way. That's the right VAT Bypass module for that car. I'd check directed electronics website for a proper wiring diagram.

 

all i did was hook up a power a ground , a negative input from them remote starter which i am guessing turns it on, and then just used a ring to put around the ignition switch. but i guess i will go mess with the ring. maybe its isn't seeing it

 

I know there is a lot more to it than that. Maybe it's the remote start you're using if that's all the wiring it came with. We used Viper remote starts/alarm systems.
