98 Jetta GT Coolant leak
I've recently stumbled upon this "problem", if you will, just the other day. I typically park my Jetta outside, and I have not noticed any problems with it whatsoever. However, this past week I have kept it in the garage since the wife is out of town. After leaving the vehicle parked overnight, when I first start it up, it takes a few extra cranks to fire up and stutters for a few seconds before idle becomes normal, when I back out, I've noticed a small pool of coolant on the ground, can't be more than an ounce, if that. The location of the leak is somewhere behind the power steering res. based on visual inspection while parked, but when I put it up on blocks, I could not find any indications of a leak. I had just bought this car about a month ago and had all the fluids changed and throttle body cleaned. When inspecting my outside parking spot, there is no evidence of any leakage. The temperature here at the moment is usually around 20 degrees and as I stated before, the car fires right up just fine whenever parked outside overnight. There doesn't seem to be much of any change in the coolant level and the car never overheats or goes past the halfway mark on the temp. gauge. In fact, it's usually far below that, but I assume that's only because I live in a frigid environment. This only happens the first time I start it in the morning after parked in the garage overnight. I never have any problems starting it after the engine has been warmed after driving. Kind of stuck scratching my head. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
