I have a 96 Jetta GL, the other day driving to work I realized that at 2500rpm instead of having a good bit of zoom I was loosing power, it would barely go to 3100 and then sputter. I could not manage highway speeds. It runs quite smoothly at lower rpms, any ideas?

 

It was a blocked catalytic converter. Problem solved
