Default 2006 Jetta, Acting Strange

Hi,

I've been searching all morning concerning this and I have not been able to find any real solution. SO I wanted to See if any of you here have any suggestions or have seen this before.

My Door Panel Lights on bot Driver and Passenger tend to shut off and come back on at random times. It doesn't necessary Flicker, They will turn off for 2-5 seconds and come back on for 1-5 minutes. The weirdest part is they do not necessarily do it at the same time.

The only real solution I've seen is a bad Alternator. I've heard that The Computer will decide on where to put Power and sometimes it will open and close some of these circuits. Also my Headlights Dim on Idle.

I've checked and My Battery is Reading 12.3V and When the car is started, The Alternator is given me 13.4V

Some say 13.4V is good and others say you should have 14V-14.7V. So I'm not sure.

Any suggestions or ideas would help

Thanks,

The battery voltage when the engine is running should be somewhere between 13.8-14.5 volts. 13.4v is a bit low but I wouldn't have thought that the door lights would switch on/off randomly on that voltage.

Get your charging system checked out and check out bad connections on these door lights and bad bulbs.

Hi Thanks for the Response.

I will check on the Connections, I doubt it's a bad bulb since I have roughly 10 Lights on the Driver's Door, and 3 on the Passenger's. They all go out at once, But not necessarily both Doors at the same time.

I was able to find this thread, Which is someone who has the exact same issue. He seems to be active on that forum so I will message him to see if he ever resolved his issue.

I will keep you posted on this if for ever reason it happens to someone else.

Thanks,
