What kind of gas mileage could i expect out of a stock 2004 2.0 Jetta, and should i expect any problems with this car or is VW a good car to go with?

 

The thing with VW's is that if you run a little late on say oil changes or something you'll feel a considerable difference in quality. When the same thing happens to my wifes 02 civic I can't tell the difference really. The Honda runs good no matter what. I feel that if you don't maintain the Vw's like you're supposed to than it will go down hill fast. I hear a lot of stories about em just turing to junk within 30,000 cause someone didn't take care of em so well. They are known to burn a lot of oil and it will surprise you how fast it does that. Everything that's known to go wrong went wrong with my 01 jetta 2.0 but it was all covered for free and since then it's been running pretty well at 90,000. I just changed the oil and air filter and it runs like a champ. Can't figure out how to change the fuel filter though. I think I need fuel filter pliers but still waiting for a response on that. It has ran better than ever for the second half of its life, but I'd expect the same things to go wrong with any vdub.

Some of things replaced for free that broke... hazards, window clip (they replaced all of them too), Mass airflow sensor, and glove box hinge.

One thing's for sure, when you put a stereo in there you'd better make sure they insulate those wires real well. My deck gets hot and starts cutting out, and when it rains it does the same but I hear static even thru I pod. I think the heat generated burns the insulation. The dealer will always blame whoever put in your stereo but I know electrical a little and have a feeling that's not it.

 

you need the quick connect fuel line tools from your local autozone.. get the one thats is like an X or called the butterfly.. adjust to the size of the line.. push into the quick connect.. push the fuel line into the filter.. then pull back.. there ya go
