2004 Jetta 2.0 Gas, broke timing belt
I have a 2004 Jetta 2.0 with 157K miles on it....the car was idling in the driveway, made a funny sound, then stopped. I believe very strongly that the timing belt broke. My question is, "is the 2.0 liter gas engine in my 04 jetta an interference, or a non-interference engine?".
Also, if it is interference, is there a way to tell if the valves were bent? Perhaps replace the timing belt and check the compresion? Thanks in advance! |
Yeah, try swapping the timing belt and then check the compression. But, if that happened, i can guarantee you have a bent valve.

Does anyone have a DIY link for replacing the timing belt on a 2004 Jetta, with 2.0 gas engine?
Thanks in advance! Brian |
