Default 2002 Jetta gasoline vs. diesel

I was looking at the differences between the gasoline and diesel engine. obviously they are different engines but which is better? I don't know much about diesel engines, so I'm not sure which is more expensive to maintain, etc. Any suggestions?

Now you've posted this in the Jetta section so are you thinking of buying a Jetta?

I also don't know where you live but I will guess from the USA where most drivers drive diesel cars to save fuel thats really the only advantage diesel has over petrol\gas.

I can show you buyers guides for any VW TDI vehicle other than that you may as well Name: google.gif

Definitly the fuel consumption. My 2000 Jetta TDI with 387,xxx KM's with $60 of diesel ($1.31 a L here in Ontario) - It'll last me anywhere from 600 - 800 KM's depending on how I drive.

As far as performance goes, I feel as though my TDi is slow as f-ck. I dont know if its the high milage or what ..
