2001 Jetta , turn signals no longer work.....
I just picked up my 2001 jetta from the shop last night, had to replace the water pump and timing belt, and starting this evening the turn signals no longer work. I checked the fuse, not it. When I use the turn signal, you barely see the indicator on the dash briefly light up and then go away. This only works the first time you try it, had the same results when trying to use hazards. Water pump went out 3 days ago, left car on highway for about 10 hours with hazards on, when i got back to the car , the battery was dead....My turn signals worked fine last night and earlier today. Any help would be appreciated, thank you in advance.

I had my signals go on my jetta before. The solution for me was the fuse. Are you sure you check the right fuse. I believe theres more than one. You might want to get an light indicator out and check them.

When I worked at VW that symptom pointed to the hazard switch (it would come & go).Try checking or changing that first & go from there, but I'm pretty sure that'll do the trick...

there might be a problem with the battery..it doesnt supply much electricty to sustain the turn signal light..
check the wirings or try to look for an electrician..
also try changing the light bulbs..if you need some replacements search the web for low cost vw turn signal..

Mine is 01 Jetta and the symptom is a bit different. When I turn on the left turn signal, the indicator and the rear light blink fast (twice faster than the right), and the light within the front lamp housing does not blink at all. . And I checked it's NOT my fuse, I'll probably replace the bulb as suggested here. Since the right one is a blue one, and the left one is a factory yellow one. The trick might be that the front and rear turn lights are wired on same route so when one is out or different, the other simply takes all the electrical stream load and makes itself blinks faster.

VW had a recall on the blinker switch and the hazard switch, get ahold of a VW dealer and they should be able to check by your VIN # too see if that has been replaced yet, otherwise they'll do it no charge
