Default 1999 Jetta GL Wipers quit

Wipers stopped and are frozen. The wipers were stopping intermittently. Sometiems on the winshield, now only near home. Motor noise is heard briefly, then silent. They are not loose on the shafts as they will not move.

Does this sound like a bad motor?( If so, any tricks on replacing one?)

sounds like a bad motor, but ive never replaced one, so i really dont have much for tricks. My best advice is to try www.vwvortex.com. thats where i tell everyone to go, you can research anything there, and find what you need

thanx
I think you're right. We removed the assembly and the motor sounds bad without any wipers on it. It wasn't in stock, so we reassembled it to crank a single blade on the driver side. That got us by. The replacement is due in soon.
