Hi,

My transmission in my 1998 Volkswagen Jetta GLS isn't shifting in the later gears. Does anyone know if a computer would fix this problem ? Thanks for your time.

 

I don't think so, I would lean more towards the synchros inside the trans. Other than that ,I dunno.

 

yup, i would definetly say synchros. Unless its an automatic then it could be cause by not getting a tranny flush, dirty fluid can mess up your fluid flow through the valves in the valve body preventing shifting.... usually bad news if you wait that long to change it
