1997 Jetta Clicking sound (relay?) behind headlight switch....help

1997 Jetta Clicking sound (relay?) behind headlight switch....help
So here is my problem:
Awhile back my, headlights started just turning off randomly at night. I could turn the headlight switch on and off a few times and it would eventually come back on. Or I could flick on the high beams and they would work just fine.
The other thing that would happen at the same time is that the e brake indicator light would get stuck on. I could also hear a random click (sounded like a relay) behind where the headlight switch is.
Then a few days ago my headlights stopped turning on completely, but I could still turn on the high beams. Then at its culmination, I came out after work one day and my car would not start, the battery was completely dead. And I could hear that same relay clicking as before but this time it was non stop. The relay was just clicking the whole time and never stopped, and apparently kept drawing juice from the battery and now it is dead and I cant get it to charge because that relay wont stop clicking. Any idea which relay it is, or if the clicking is just a symptom of a bigger issue? All answers are appreciated!!!
