Default 1996 VW Jetta Driver side door lock assembly repair

I'm having an issue with the door latch "lock", it seems to be missing a spring or attachment to hold the latch closed. I was wondering if anyone knew of a blueprint or diagram showing the components in the assembly as the alternative is to tear apart the passenger side to have a look.

The cause was simply turning the key to the lock position then the unlock position (the auto lock whirred like normal but I soon found out the door would not latch properly to the striker plate. When I took it apart the door assembly latch swings freely and does not click into place locking itself like it should, after poking around I found the "Lock" that's dotted with green sharpy in the picture below. Its missing something that would apply tension keeping it in the current position "closed".

When the leavers are pulled they press into the green dotted piece to push it out of the way disengaging the lock from the latch allowing the door to be opened. I just cant find any information on what would be missing, and after requesting a few ebay sellers send me some pictures (to no avail) my last resort is removing the latch from the passenger side door to have a look. I'm hopeful someone here will be able to say "Naw its just a spring, put it in the 2 holes here and there."

Thank you for your time!
