Hey everyone,
I have a 2002 Vw Jetta 1.8T 5 speed, and recently upon startup, it makes a diesel-like clank.
I'm not sure whether its because of the cold weather or a possible future problem...maybe a starter?I dont know

Any help would be appreciated...thanks.

 

I havethe 1.8T also and the sound you describe does sound like a starter motor, mine does the same thing. Its a pretty common problem in Jettas and Beetles. But maybe im wrong, mine sounds more like a whirrrrrrrrrrrrr haha
