Default '03 Jetta 1.8T Manual Trans Issue

Hello

No recent repairs on this car.
Owned the car for 50k miles of its 160k.

Approximately 200 miles ago, 5th gear became difficult to shift into. I think I had to kind of wiggle the shifter to get it in. When it got worse, it felt as if something were blocking the shifter from moving the last half inch of the shift; if I released the clutch, the trans would be in neutral. If I forced the shifter, even with clutch pressed, trans would grind. When I let the rpm's drop to <1k, it shifts fine.

3rd gear has started to have the same problem.

1st gear, since I got the car, always required that I slow down to 2mph or so to downshift into it.

Any thoughts? Likely culprit and how long does it have?

Thanks in advance!

First job I would check out the clutch hydraulics.

Thanks!

It couldn't possibly be a clutch issue since it's not in all gears; yeah?

Will update the signature after I poke around the car tomorrow
