01 Jetta GLX VR6 P1237 P1242 Codes
Bought this Jetta used, 109k miles. Previous owner said it ran great prior, then died on him while at a red light about 3 years ago. Hasn’t started or been driven since. He BELIEVED it was the upper timing chain, but never dug deep enough to verify.
Threw in a new battery and it was throwing 4 codes. P1237 (open circuit injector 1), P1242 (open circuit injector 6),P1340 (cam/crank correlation error) and P1603 (faulty ECM).
I did see that 1603 is USUALLY triggered by a low battery voltage. After the swap and clearing codes, 1603 and 1340 disappeared but 1237 and 1242 remain. I checked the #32 fuse, which shows on the diagram I found as the injectors fuse, it’s still good.
I don’t have much experience with Euro cars, so just looking for some experiences or tips on what these codes may be. I know it could simply be a couple bad injectors, but the vehicle will not start at all so I would assume it’s something deeper than that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks everyone!
