Question Temperature Light Problems!! Help please!!

I have 2003 Gti 1.8T 5 speed. The other day, the temperature light turned on while my wife was driving to work, but she said the temp was less than 190 degrees. Went unnoticed. Today we were driving and it turned on again, but this time the temperature gauge showed a steady rise to max hot. When we pulled over, we popped the hood, there was steam from a leaking hose that is coming from a connection near the temp sensor. ( I'm not sure what that hose is?) does anyone know if that could be the overheat amd light problem and if so how to change that hose. [side note: I have replaced the water pump when the car had 97,000 miles on it. The car now has 107,000 on it. When we replaced the water pump, it was replaced with a metal better than plastic oe. At the time I replaced the thermostat, radiator sensor and the temp. Sensor along with the water pump]

Is there alot of pressure in the cooling system? When it gets upto temperature slowly release the pressure cap and see if alot pressure escapes.

I was going to suggest a water pump as they do give trouble but you say you replaced that 10k ago.

You could remove the radiator and reverse flush it which an hose pipe, look for any dark brown liquid being flushed out.

It would be easier if you could post a picture of that leaking hose.
