opinion help
Ok, recently I fell in love with the GTI GLX, which I'm planning on buying very soon, however I have heard nothing but bad things in regards to the reliability of the car from people that have never owned a GTI, they basic reasoning is that its assembled in mexico and not germany so it's not as good as in europe... is that true? i love the car but I really don't have time right now or the money to have to do a lot of reliability mods to it. All I found online that the suspension need to be stiffened, whcih isn't a problem. I have a lot of experience with toyota and honda motors... but not a volkswagen, so please let me know if there's anything I should know about before I buy the car, i figured I'd post this to poeple that actually drive the car.... any insight will help. Thanks in advance

RE: opinion help
GTi's are well known for being pretty reliable, theres not the most reliable cars but theyre not bad at all. Im not sure who your friends are, but chances are anything they drive was assembled in mexico as well, damn near any car or automotive part in america not directly domestic (and even then youd be amazed how many parts of domestic stuff gets built in mexico to save on costs *cough* ford *cough* GM)
Point being, you really just dont know. No auto retailer in the US builds all of their own parts period. If your argument for not buying a GTI is a few parts of it are assembled in mexico maybe you should rethink that.
