Default Hey Im New

Hey Im jason and im new to this whole Volkswagen scene...I love the look of the GTI...Im buying a 2003 20th ANIV. GTI w/ 46,000...The only thing i have a problem w/ is the fact it only has 180 hp. If i wanted to upgrade the turbo and do a few other mods to get me well around 275-300 hp....what do i have to do and is it expensive....Are there any Speed shops around chicago that specialize in just Volkswagen...please HELP ME!!!!.....P.s ......what is the fastest quarter mile time for this car...like what is the fastest that anyone has gottin the car up too.....THANX GUYS.....

Well first of all dont underestimate this car... 180hp goes a long way in a turbo hatch. I suggest a test drive before you really judge it because its hard to tell what it can do without feeling it. The mods on this car are fairly cheap, actually much cheaper than for other cars ive looked at. kind of depends on how much you wanna spend still. Its an amazing car, i havent strayed too far from stock due to factory warranty, but i have seen some wicked GTIs running ridiculously fast. I hit the governor on mine at about 135mph when topping out, but ive noticed that some of the perf. chips you can buy extends your top end raising top speed considerably.
hope this helps,
-joel

also, if you can get a deal on an anniversary edition then go for it, otherwise stick with a reg 1.8T. The only difference is a subtle body kit, suspension (you can put in) and a six speed instead of five. no difference in horses to my knowledge and youll spend a great deal more on 20th. I got mine with 7000 miles on it for the same price as a 20th i was looking at with 40000 miles. test drove both and the only real differences i felt were a more rigid suspension (which ill be puting in) and the obvious difference in gearing. not worth it to me but thats my two cents
