fan doesn't engage

Default fan doesn't engage
I have a 1999 gti and the fan doesn't engage and am looking for reasons why. I was thinking a sensor might be bad but just want to see if any of you would know why

There could be many reasons. You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing.
