Default VW GOLF IV wont start

Everything seemed ok, but the car just won't start. it worked fine in the morning and then... it just won't start up again. i'm new to this car thing, i'm desparate, i need all the help i can get to sort this problem up.
my 'mechanic' is suggesting that i get a new computer box. prior to this, i had this service inspection blinking everytime i started the car, but i had done all the servicing..or so i thought.
Please, I need some help here.
thanks in advance for your kind gesture

Did you check for spark from the pulgs or the coil itself, if you have spark , check if the fuel pump is operating.
