Shifter moves - BUT TRANS Stays in PARK
OK, I have searched the forum ... maybe I am the only one who has this problem ?!?!?! My Shifter moves but the "linkage" stays in PARK ... Am I making sense??? I have pulled the housing off the consol and "fiddled" around to see if I could find a release switch of some sort with NO LUCK. The shifter itself seems to be playing by all the safety rules (i.e. need to push the brake before it will come out of park, etc) but it just doesn't bring the actual linkage along for the ride. Any suggestions???
OK, where is the SPELL CHECK BUTTON???

RE: Shifter moves - BUT TRANS Stays in PARK
OK, so I answered PART of the question myself ... but still need some help!
Found out (after some poking and searching) that the reason the shifter moves but the transmission doesn't is because of the "rod" that connects to the top of the tranny under the hood. It has rusted and snapped off ... does anyone know what it takes to replace it and where I might be able to find it? If I get as lucky as I did the 1st time I may answer this question too ... but I figured I'd ask the forum ... worked for me the first time right?
