Default potential first time VW owner seeking assistance

I've never considered buying a VW until recently, so i was just wondering how reliable they were and also how much more i'm going to spend on general upkeep than i would with a domestic. If it helps, i'm looking specifically at an '04 Golf GLX GTI 1.8 turbo with a 5 spd tranny.

I'd ask my dad about his experience with Volkswagen, but he had a '76 Beetle and I'd like to think it would be like comparing an Apple II to a Mac Book Pro.

Thumbs up

Here is the deal. I own an 04 jetta gls 2.0 non turbo 5 speed. They are great cars great gas millage and i havent had an issue yet as long as you do regular oil changes and a good tune up here and there your fine you will have that car for a long time i love volkswagen it hasnt let me down yet. I know a lot of people who own golfs and all other volkswagens they are a great brand. Parts are pretty cheap when it comes to prices so inexspensive if have any other questions feel free to ask me
GOOD Choice over all
