Default Newly lisensed, need a car!!

To start off id like to say hello to everyone in the forum. I'm a new comer lol.
Heres the story, I'm 17, I've had my lisence for about 5 months. I'm not a crazy teenage driver, I drive with confidence and with safety in mind.
I've only had 1 accident ( didnt claim it , it was a fender bender )
I have 2 points on my record for speeding ( while i had my learners permit )
So now i have 2\4 demerit points on my lisence..... anyway thats enough about myself

Right now i drive my parents Mercury Villager (95). It handles beautifully i have to say hehe
I'm graduating from highschool in june and i need a little car to get me into montreal. I'm going to be taking a mechanics course in montreal after highschool so.... i need transportation, since i do NOT live on the island. Im about 2-3km away from montreal.

All my neighbors have golfs and they seem to love them. They drive the **** out of them if i can say that. I'm just wondering what exactly i should be looking in a used golf. Any and all suggestions would be helpful. I'm kind of a newb to cars. But i'm not stupid.
and please keep in mind i'm 6'4 ~270lbs... i work out regulary.
I'm not exactly sure if this car would fit me.... you get the point lol
thanks for your feedback in advance

Kyle.

It'll fit you. My dad's 6 foot and he fits in his fine. they have tons of room. one big thing to look for in any manual tranny is if there is any play or missing gears or random grinding (not caused by you). If you're going for an automatic you don't have to really worry about that but you still should keep it in mind. Check for fuel/oil/exhaust leaks and when you're test driving make sure the breaks are good. If I've missed anything someone let me know.
