I thought I lost my keys to my 2008 VW Rabbit yesterday at a ski resort. My pocket had a hole in it.

I seriously thought I was doomed for as I DO NOT carry a spare key with me. Luckily, I found them.

I NEED a SOLUTION for this problem NOW, just in case I REALLY do lose my keys in the future.

My questions:

1) Does VW have a service where I call a 1-800 number and they open my car for me? (like on-star in Ford)
2) If I want to keep a spare key, where should I keep it?
3) Does anyone know if a 2008 rabbit can be opened with a "slim jim" (you know that slim piece of metal the thieves use on the inside of the glass and door panel) This is a last resort as I know that AAA mechanics use this when you call them out.
4) If I can use a "slim jim", how do I turn off the alarm on a 2008 rabbit from the inside of my car?
