interior trim falling apart

interior trim falling apart
I've got a '04 Golf GLS which I really love to death. I was salivating over them for years. Get most of a year into owning it and I notice that the soft touch plastic coating on the drivers inside door handle is wrinkling. Then starts to rub or scrape right off. Soon I notice that the side of the instrument panel, where my leg rests when I drive, is starting to wrinkle too.
Has anyone else had problems like this with their VW? I'm wondering if this might be a warrantied repair, since I know I've never seen a car start sluffing it's interior like this. And it's the same light tone lower panels that are doing it. And the only thing I've ever used on the interior was a little armorall once a while back. Ahhh! My beautiful Golf! Anyone got thoughts? Thanks.

RE: interior trim falling apart
I guess my post wasn't specific enough. Has anyone seen this problem on their VW? I'm wondering if I did something (cleaning product maybe) to damage it? I am thinking this is a manufacturer defect. Anyone tried to get a warrantied repair on something like this? Or maybe there's a way I can fix it (pick your part)?

Odds are if you have a bumper to bumper warranty that is valid it WILL cover this although I think you should contact the dealer and find out all the total details, if it's not covered you can always paint it or go over it with a nice sealer.
