Default ignition problemo

hey guys...have another problem with my 94 2.0 golfo...i been having trouble trying to start the car when i turn the ignition...i turn it and nothing....i have to to turn it several times until i get the car started....i already check the battery, cleaned the posts, terminals, and secure tight the terminals to the battery but i keep having this problem...i dont think is the battery nor the starter because after a few ( much tries) the car all of the sudden turns like normal...what can be the problem??? the ignition switch??? does it have something that sends a signal or something to the starter and can that be faulty??
let me know something guys...thank u

Its most likely your switch or the wires going to the back of the switch. I dont know about stock ignition switches, but my switch I bought has posts on the back where you hold the wires on with a nut. I dont know if this is how the stock one is, but maybe so. The wires could be loose or corroded. Or it is the switch acting up. My switch is cheap from auto zone and it has given me several problems. If it is the switch, buy a factory replacment from someplace like jcwhitney and dont waste your money at some auto parts store.

Starter solenoid would be my guess. When you turn the key to on position do the lights in the dash come on?

Default 94 starting prob.

I had same thing on my 94. I asked the parts guy at VW and they told me the ign. switch. (they sell alot of these at about $12 ea.)It`s a piece that goes on the back of where you put your key in, it just plugs in but can be a pain if you don`t have instructions. Took me 2 hrs with the manual, works like new again
Good luck
