i've just bought an N reg (late 90's)golf , i have a couple ofproblems and was wondering ifanyone had some sort of insight or adviseforme .

The first problem is the car starts up fine first time but if i run it down the road for 10-15mins, turn it off and try to fire it up again, it just turns over and wont fire up , i have to leave it for 30mins then it starts up fine again. ???

Also some times when its running it can seem (for no reason) sluggish when i accelerate , genrally in 2nd or 3rd ??

its been recently serviced and MOT'd and has also been fitted with a new fuel pump relay. As you can imagen this is beccoming quite a pain in the *** ,cant take it out for quick runs .

please , any help or advise much appreciated as me and a mechanic friend of mine are pulli ng our hair out !!![:@]

 

just a guess, but sounds like stuck or bad choke action there. Although, could also be a plugged fuel filter. Just guessing though.

 

Can't be sure, all is just a guess, but I had a vehicle that did almost the same thing, after going through everything but the problem, it finally turn out to be a intermitten working electric fuel pump.
