Default clutch? master cylinder? or???

I just bought my first car, its the 2004 golf gl hatchback. low 40's on it. and Bought the car 'As Is' right off the lot. The warrenty with the car is just as limited as directions on a Mac and Chesse box. Were I'm getting at this is 5 mins down the road cruzing i here and feel my clutch pop and my trany making it so hard for me to pop the stick into any gear. I was not sporting the car in any way, or dropping the clutch. I just cant seem to find out were things went wrong, i mean i had it checked out my many people { autobody friend /Used car manager from my work, and a good friend who works at a transmission shop} I;m hearing from all angles it could be a Master cylinder, slave, release bearing, or maybe a whole clutch kit. i really just need to know who im looking at here.
