ABS and Brake lights on

Default ABS and Brake lights on
I have a 2000 Golf TDI that I just bought and the ABS light stays on and the Brake light flashes on and off. I have checked the fluid and vacuum lines; just wondering what else I could check? The brakes seem to work fine the flashing light is annoying. Any advice would be appreciated
