Default 99 Golf GLS

Okay so Im a little new to VW's. Just bought a 1999 Golf GLS 2.0L with 130k on it. Cylinder 3 was misfiring so I changed the plugs and wires... only to find out that the plug wires the vehicle was calling for were not the exact same as the ones in the car. The ones that were already in the car had a 90 degree elbow where they connect to the distributor and the ones that I purchased are just straight where they connect to the distributor. This caused the wires to be just a little short and I had to do some rerouting of the wires (which puts one of the wires touching the intake manifold).. Anyway the misfire seems to of stopped.... Im just wondering if anyone has used these kind of wires before and if they are okay to use.. they are the Autolite 96813
