Default 1997 mk3 Golf TDi wiring fault

Please Help,

My mk3 3 TDi golf refused to start yesterday, was turning over, but just would not fire up.

I rang the rac, and he said that the wire to the diesel pump (by the injectors on the engine) has lost power, thus stopping the vehicle from starting.

he tried to locate the fault but could not find where the wire is coming from, its a black wire with a white tracer, connected to the diesel pump.

so in desperation, he has done a temporary fix to make the car drivable, by disconnecting the black wire with white tracer, and connecting a crude wire from the ignition switch directly to the pump.

The car now starts ok but is driving as if the engine mapping is all out, it lacks power and wont go over about 70mph.

I have looked all throught the wiring in my haynes manual but it is not detailed enough, doesn't have the engine computer or the diesel pump on any of the diagrams.

has anyonw had this fault before?
Do you know where this wire is fed from?
Does anyone have a full wiring diagram for a mk3 golf TDi?

Please help if you know anything about this fault.

Thank you

kai
