I have an 89 golf and recently got new wiper arms because they stopped working. They worked for a few weeks then they stopped as well. After looking into it i noticed the wiper shaft is stripped causing the arm to strip inside.
Since the arms were under warranty im getting new ones but want to order 2 new wiper shafts as well so they dont just strip again.
So my first question is, are the wiper shafts the same for both sides? I can only find one side on partstrain and other sites so are theinterchangeable?

Secondly is there a write up or a how to (pictures preferred) of how to go about changing the shafts? IT is hard to see cause they are tucked away but I dont want to take it to a stealership and have them charge an arm and leg to do the job.
