Default Convertible Problems

[font="Times New Roman"]Is there a way to raise the convertible manually? I just purchased a 1998 Cabrio and the top will not close. Thankfully we have a garage, it has been raining[:@]. Thanks for the help!

I think there is a way to do this. I have an '06, and the owner's manual gives detailed directions on how to do this. Check your manual, or try and get a dealer to talk you through the process.
Good luck.

Thanks. Thats also my problem. I purchased the car one week ago. The owners manual is for a Golf/GTI with nothing on convertibles.

Hi radcat
I have a98 cabrio. The procedure to raise the roof manually is;
There is a valve in the trunk on the left fender behind a plastic circular cover, remove the cover, turn the valve counterclockwise ( this releases hyd pressurein the system)
You can now raise the roof manually, raise it slowly, same speed as the motor would take. Close the valve to repressurize the system, and your done.
Hope this helped
