Question cabrio, ragtop question

Hey, I really appreciate anyone willing to take the time to help me out here. I'm considering an '86 cabriolet convertible. It has some probs, needs a new wiring harness, etc. so it's a "tinkermobile" at the moment, something DH is taking on to help his friend get it sellable. But frankly I'd love it for running errands. The friend says the top "leaks a little", but I have no clue how much it would cost to replace- any ideas? Can they be bought ready-made? Or better yet, sealed somehow?
Thanks much, Mary

You can buy a top ready to go but they are VERY hard to put on and usually you have to cut a hole in the back for the winshield

the tops are hard to put on, but if your only looking to make it watertight just replace the outer vinyl. There not to expensive and it makes the car look a ton better.
