Default 85 Cabrio over heating help please

I have recently purchased a 1985 vw Cabrio, I am baffled by what is going on.. The car overheats within minutes, there is no heat inside the car the oil light flashes and buzzes but there is no water in the oil and the rad is ice cold, the water pump was just changed less then 1 month ago is this a head gasket problem or something else? can anyone help?

Is the radiator boiling out after you run it for a bit? If so, it can be a head gasket problem where the exhaust gas is pushed into the water chamber causing it to boil.
