Default 2001 Cabrio AC not working

Hello I'm new here and have an issue with my GF's 2001 VW Cabrio. The engine cooling fan stopped working with the AC on. Upon replacing the cooling fan the AC no longer works. Can someone shed some light on how to troubleshoot this?

thanks

I had an issue with the AC a couple years ago. I have a 99 Cabrio. In my case, the compressor failed. The dealer wanted over double what I found on the internet. They grumble but will install your parts, minus warrentee of course.

You saying the fan for AC failed makes me thing the fuse might have blown. But if your fan is now working and still no AC, you might need to have the AC coolant checked. As I recall, the system isn't that complicated, good luck.

You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing.
