Default 2000 Cabrio while driving it just dies..HELP!

Hello! My head hurts... About a month ago my 2000 vw cabrio just quit while I was driving. I tried to put in gear and pop the clutch and nothing happened. Pulled over to the side. Tried to crank it, it was trying, starter was going strong and it just wouldn't fire. Sat there for 5 minutes. Then crank right up. Went on and everything was fine. A few days later, the same exact thing. Wait 5 minutes cranks right up. It got more frequent. Today, it started doing it every mile or so. I would crank it up, drive a mile it would just turn off. It didn't chug or anything it just like shut off. I'd sit there for 3-5 minutes and crank right back up and it would do it again until I got to work and parked it. The check engine light is on and has been for years P0255 (I think), oreilys says its the gas cap code where I need to check my rubber ring, I have and it appears fine. the temp dummy light flashes on and off and has been doing it for a few years as well. the temp gauge never goes hot, it stays normal. I replaced the thermostat and the reseviour tank thinking it's a sensor but gave up.... Any one got any ideas or suggestions? It's almost like it loses fire or gas for 3-5 minutes. thanks... 7777777

Nice signature but it doesn't say which engine and whether its petrol or diesel?

I would suspect the 109 relay this is the main power feed to the ecu. You can crank it all day and it will never start. Google VW 109 relay.

if you click on the VIN number you've posted that gives a bit more info the Sales Model is 1V73N4.

If you click on User CP on the left of the blue bar above. Then click on Edit Signature under Settings & Options on the left you can change the text then click on Preview Signature to see what it looks like. The click on Save Signature.

Thanks... I updated the info in my signature... I found on Orielys Auto Parts relay 409 which says it's a Import Direct Ignition - Engine Control Module Wiring Relay
Line: IDI | Part # 25-0235 Import Direct Ignition 25-0235 - Relay | O'Reilly Auto Parts

would that be the same as the 109 relay? Just different in this car?

Thanks...

You say you don't have a 109 relay under the dash.

The link you've shown isn't the right one.

I really appreciate the help. I apologize for not being good at this. I don't think my fuse/relay box looks like that unless I'm looking in the wrong place. I'm looking under the dash above the clutch. I have a row of fuses like 15 or so with what I think are blocks of relays above it. I posted an album of fuses/relays. With the pic of what I think it looks like and then some actual pics of mine. Although my pics aren't clean because of where it is. The diagram I posted shows an ECM in position 3 but I don't have anything in there on mine. Am I looking at the wrong thing? Does it matter that it is a convertible? I guess I should have put that in my signature. Thank You for all your help. Let me know...
