My 1998 has been having a few problems. When I would gas up, or not have enough gas the engine would cut in and out in first gear. Anyways, I was away for 2 months and the car had not been started until I got back. Now it is having the same problem but the engine cuts out all the time. If I hit 3000rpm in 1st it cuts, 2000 rpm in 2nd it cuts and so on. The exhaust is finished. Can this be due to the catalytic converter or the 02 sensor? Any ideas or info will be greatly appreciated!

 

I would check first for any engines codes. Is the check engine light on??

 

Yes the check engine light is on now, but it was doing it before too without the check engine light coming on.
