1995 2.0 problems starting and idle surge

Default 1995 2.0 problems starting and idle surge

I recently bought a 1995 Cabrio with a 2.0. It ran fine, but idled a little rough. I gently degreased the engine with a spray degreaser. It then took three or more key turns to crank it each time. It also now surges between 800 and 1100 RPM at idle. I found a few broken vacuum lines and have replaced them. I can't find a vacuum diagram anywhere for this vehicle to check more. Any other sugestions?

I think maybe the idle control valve might have failed. That's one of the electrical parts that are very sensitive and some degreaser may have found it's way in. You can pick up a repair manual at the parts store for about $20. Then you can diagnose the idle valve and it will have a map of all the vacuum lines.

My Haynes and ALLDatadiy.com does not have any vacuum diagrams. The sticker under the hood has long been rubbed off. I'll check the idle control. thanks.
