Default Tires and Bumpers

Howdy, y'all,
I just bought a 1971 Beetle and it needs new tires. It has 165R 15 on right now, but they look rather large. What is the correct size, or will this size do?
Also, it needs new bumpers and brackets, but I have decided to put pre-69 bumpers because I prefer the more rounded look. Is this possible, and where should I look for these? Thanx

Default RE: Tires and Bumpers

The original tire size for the beetle was 500x15, later it was
600x15 and the type 3 used 650x15, you will have to
cross ref the size to the new style.
You said pre 69 bumpers, the 68 had the same bumpers,
If your saying pre 68, then they will not fit, nothing is
mounted the same, even thow it may look like it.
