i looked at my belt connected to my alternator and it looks like it is getting chewed up. meaining that it is starting to fray on the edges. this happened to me once before when i changed it. but the manicanic said it was ony the belt i tend to think it is the pully on the bottom because that is rusting could this be my problem.

 

Rust could indeed be a problem, it can be sanded clean by hand
and rotating the engine by hand. Also the brand of belt could be a
problem, We found years ago to use Good Year or Dayco brand
and they would hold up better.
