i had just changed my points in my 73 type 1 bettle. now i cant get the car started what could be my problem.

 

The points in the ole beetle was bad about shorting out,
If you got the gap set correct, just wiggle the points around a bit and most of the time the short goes away.
Did you rotate the engine to where one of the 4 little
lobes in the distributer was touching the rubbing block on
the points and then set the gap. the gap is .018
