Default older beetle bumpers

G,day folks
I am gathering parts for a restoration on my 1970 beetle. I have bought most of the gear i need over here (Australia). But before i go and buy the last bits etci have a few questions.Firstly iwant to put older style "towel rail" bumpers on my bug. Is there much surgery to make the older buggers fit ? Or are they pretty interchangable? Also, i have a new roofling to fit - my first one! Does anyone know of any good DVD's, books etc that could be of help ??

Cheers Folks

Bumpers wont interchange, without major surgery, and
may not look correct after all that.
