need ideas for restoring/remodeling a 1974 VW beetle
Hey everyone,
So I got my '74 VW beetle last year and have been wanting to restore/ remodel it, however I have little idea of what to do with it. It still runs pretty well, the usuall 55-60 on the highway. Probably the only problems with it as of now is that my speedometer is broken, windshield wipers dont work, signaling lights dont work, a few things are rusted like the steps by the car door, a few cracks in the windows here and there, speakers are blown, wiring can probably use work, and my left fender is all dented up because some jackass backed up into it when it was parked.
But yeah, I will be using this car to commute about 60 miles each day, and am wondering if other than restoring the things mentioned above, is there any way to make it more efficient on gas, make it go faster on the highway, and probably any other things i should do. And if you guys have any other creative ideas I would be more than pleased to hear them.
Heres a picture of the car so far (before the messed up fender)http://frogfighters.com/godraco/photoalbum/S4020745.JPG

Take a look at www.socalautoparts.com that might give you a better idea. Or www.jcwhitney.com/VW-Parts/10110.jcw I've been working on my 74 beetle for the last year or so using those sites. Let me know how it works out
