Hey guys,

I just got my car a few days ago and im trying to figure out whats going on:

When I unlock the car with the remote and get in after about 30 sec the beetle locks all doors (with me and the key in the car)...even when the key is in the ignition (but the engine and car are off).

Any idea why it locks it so soon? Im trying to avoid locking my keys in the car this way

I've got the same make/model and this always happens to me also. It's quite embarrassing having the alarm turn on when I am sitting in the car.
I just think it's a safety feature so as to not leave your car unlocked.

 

its funny you should reply to this today....on my way to work after pumping gas i was getting in and noticed some garbage in my car - so i wasnt thinking and i left the keys on my seat to free my hands to grab the garbage....

when i came back (10 sec later!) the car auto-locked and i had to car a tow truck.....sooooooooooooo annoying!
