1999 beetle with 2.0 auto,
1 started to run rough and die/setting random codes for multiple misfires
2 while checking for spark plug cable shorts the coil burst into smoke/split , shorted out and the car died
3 new coil installed// doesn't run
4 the following codes were set
00518 throttle valve potentiometer
0529 speed info missing
0545 engine gear box electrical connection
01314 engine control unit
01312 bus drive
18256 dtc memory of engine ecu

is the ecu dead ?? if so can I change it with out the factory radio installed for the security system//original is long gone and was replaced with an aftermarket ..

any info would be helpful its my daughters car and she loves this thing
