Default HELP...76 beetle plug keeps fouling...expensive

Hey folks...

I'm desperate for any help, as I've already got hundreds of dollars into this mystery, and i'm running out of CASH.

My spark plug keeps fouling (don't remember which #...but it's on the right side if you're looking down at the engine from behind the car)...

Anyway, here's what's been done in the process of trying to fix this problem (which is causing bad misfiring, hesitation, etc)

-plugs replaced (which worked for about an hour or two, until it fouled (black) again (same plug every time, by the way)
-plug wires replaced
-distributer checked for problems
-carb replaced and set and checked and checked again
-engine tuned with all the fixins of that process
-valves adjusted
-oh and the compression on that plug spot was checked and is well over 100...

What next?

Thanks for any help guys...I feel like i need a miracle, or a loan.

Chris

maybe a bent/twisted cam as it is opposed cyliders they share the same lobe on the camshaft. does the cylinder opposite the bad one have any problems at all like lean? if bad hole is carbon fouled. and not smashed. i assume you have good spark etc

Also a ouick fix is go to auto parts store and buy a non-fouling tip that you screw spark plug in and then screw into head. Just a quick fix like I said. It will stop from fouling plug and you really don't loose that much power.

pffft... cam stuff.. its carb settings. are they wet, black but dry looking? carbon deposits? all carb settings and timing.

dual carbs? single? Are you sure you set your valves correctly? If you are running a single carb and are only fouling in one plug then you are likely to have a valve problem, a bent cam is unlikely as you would see the same issue on the opposite side.
