Hey all....I have been a Volkwagen Beetle owner for several years - my model is the New Beetle Convertible 2008. I bought it with 27,000 miles on it and now it has almost 65,000. No major problems until recently. Just spent 1700 getting a thermostat replaced and today, I had two engine lights come on. One is the EPC light and the other is the rear view of a car with
squiggly lines behind it. I called the dealership and they said to bring it in.
Meanwhile, I had a general auto service place do a diagnostics check and it
did not reveal any engine problem.
I generally love my dealership, but I have no way of knowing if what they are telling me is true and I sure don't want to get slammed with another huge repair bill.
Any help out there?

Welcome to the forum.

You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing.
